Any final solution to the Linx 1020 problem yet? Not willing to have restricted updates running Anniversary Update Windows 10 and Creators Update has major power issues on 1020. Is it just a case of not fit for purpose?

Not heard anything Paul, I'm still doing updates but obviously keeping eye out for the firmware one which hasn't showed itself again since, regarding creator edition, no news on this either, all you can do is email/call support and get an update, if there is one, but I'm sure they are working with Microsoft to sort this issue out.

I have asked Linx/Exertis support twice now requesting information on an update/fix for the 1020 with Creators Update - no response to this question from them both times. I would be expecting a fix within a day or so of reported problems not having to wait weeks. I will end up sending unit back for refund if it goes on unanswered much longer.

Think to expect fix that quick isn't going to happen as it's Microsoft and I'm sure not a problem with the tablet, if I had thought that I wouldn't have had a replacement and had my money back

Hi gadgetuk, sorry if this is a dumb question but Im not particularly good with all this technical stuff, are you saying its safe to install windows updates on a linx 1020 now? ive got mine in metered connection mode right now but haven't been able to install any updates since I found out about the update bug before unboxing it. My micro sd card drive has disappeared and im hoping some updates might fix that.

I'm using it in metered mode to, I manually check for updates and see what it comes up with, as I say I have had that one above and normal Windows defender updates, but not the firmware one that caused the problem, it has not shown up, so I'm guessing that Microsoft fixed that from showing up on our devices which it isn't compatible with.buzz54 uses this software to block updates etc, think I'm going to use it rather than the metered option, here is the link for it.

For those of you who are not so bothered with privacy, an alternative to O&O Shutup 10 is a little offering from Sordum.org which simply switches off updates. It is very simple and portable. Please read the information on the linked page.

Well a little update on my 1020 and Creators Update. Since this was causing power issues I have now rolled back to Anniversary Update thanks to Linx/Exertis sending me through the recovery USB stick.

After checking for updates on wifi unmetered connection it installed the following:

2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x86-based Systems (KB4019472)

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - May 2017 (KB890830)

2017-05 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB4020821)

Intel - net - 10/31/2016 12:00:00 AM - 19.20.3.4

I think it is safe to say you can now have your 1020 unmetered without any problems, certainly all OK with my machine now.

Hope this helps.

My devices are always on metered anyway, for several reasons; useful for times like this, and I'm one of those rare people on a capped connection so I need to have metered on to control downloads :)
