Linx 1020 Insyde Firmware update

General chit-chat on the Linx 1020

Hi mate,

You have had exactly the same problem I have experienced.

Argos exchanged my first Linx 1020 yesterday because of this issue and, like you, after I set up my new Linx 1020, Windows downloaded and installed updates which required a restart and now the Linx 1020 will not even power up.

I have left the new Linx 1020 unplugged since yesterday afternoon so before I take it back to Argos I will follow the advice from Exertis (Linx Support) to see if I can bring it back to life, although I very much doubt it will power up as my previous tablet was dead as a Dodo the day after it failed.

Regards,

Marc

Hi Guys,

I had a very helpful and constructive phone call from Linx Support earlier today.

Obviously Linx are aware of the issues we have been experiencing and confirmed to me that it is the Microsoft Update that is the cause. Also at present it is thought that this issue only affects Linx 1020 tablets.

The advice from Linx Support is to set how updates are delivered to metered connections until such time as a Microsoft fix is confirmed.

Argos have again kindly exchanged my tablet for a new Linx 1020 and this time I am taking no chances.

Unfortunately for Linx 1020 owners who have already been affected by the Microsoft Update issue the only option is to take it back to the retailer for an exchange or refund.

Kind Regards,

Marc

I have the same issue - a week after this happening to me I'm still waiting for an RMA to return it, so now I have registered a complaint with Amazon..

How ridiculous. I don't blame you for registering a complaint.

Good luck. I hope it gets sorted soon.

Sadly, Amazon don't want to know as it's [just] past their 30 day return deadline.

I got a linx 1020 sent to me as a replacement for my old linx 10
In the email they sent following the replacement they told me to download a bios update and install it. So I did
Little to my surprise the tablet no longer turns on
The power light comes on
However the screen stays blank etc

Loving the new firmware update can now turn off/restart without having to hold the power button for 10 seconds.
