Working front/rear cameras in Windows 10 (1803)?

by Go53mai » May 27th, 2018, 9:15 pm

Has anyone updated their Windows 10 to 1803 and still got working front & rear cameras? I updated but can't get either camera to be recognised :( In the Device Manager I have the Intel AVStream shown and Windows reports that it's working.

I'm in the same situation as you, both front and rear camera's are reported by Skype as GC2235 units, neither work, both give black screens. Control Panel shows Intel(R) AVStream Camera. You got it working yet?

Hi guys

I appreciate this thread is regarding other Linx models, but could be worth a try. It's quite a long thread but full of useful information etc

Hi all,

As an addition to this thread, I found that a BIOS reset stopped my cameras working on my 12x64.

As described in the thread linked below, I found that the heavy handed option of updating the BIOS installed the correct settings and got both cameras working again:

http://www.linxtablet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=2939&p=17833#p17833

In the BIOS both front and rear cameras now show as GC2235_2235 types. Windows device manager just shows Intel(R) AVStream Camera.

I have just installed Windows 10 1809 and everything was fine except the drivers. I opened up Device Manger and saw the drivers in the other folder in Device Manager and Right clicked to update Drivers and search for the Driver folder I copied into Documents Folder and updated the Drivers pointing to the Driver Folder and got everything working except the Wi-Fi not working due to Comp ability problems.
I checked the cameras are both working though Windows Camera App. When Cameras are installed they show up in System folder in Device Manger. Just sorting out Wifi and microSD Card reader not showing. Hope this helps.

Paul - thanks for sharing that.

Those steps sound like a lot of post update tweaking for users to grapple with.

OS updates breaking the wifi and camera drivers doesn't sound like my idea of fun.
