USB issues - USB 3.0

by Boooya01 » October 2nd, 2017, 2:41 pm

Hi,
i bought my first linx 12v64 and tried to use my usb 3.0 universal dock with this and it wouldnt work, contacted linx support regarding this and they gave me a replacement, educational version (results...windows Pro) , anyway i left my dock at work so i didnt test.
downloaded all the drivers i needed for it. plugged it in.

nope same issues, loaded a usb diagnostic tools.

i get driver key name Error_invalid_parameter when ever i plug in the device. tried another usb 3.0 device and get it up but it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.

funny thing is though i can use my dock under usb 2.0 (so much slower though) plug it into the OTG cable.....BOOM works.

before i contact the support people....again, i thought i would ask the people.

all my drivers are up to date, no windows updates to do.

Cheers

UPDATE -
I have emailed linx support but what it looks like is the usb port isn't either bit enough or is too flush on the board.

The connections for usb 2.0 are fine as the port is big enough for the connectors too touch.
The usb 3.0 connections (peripheral end) don't manage to make a proper connection as these are at the back of the port...roughly 3-5mm off.

I will see what they say on the reply.

Cheers

Ok...another update

spoken to Linx support.

The issue has been replicated a few times but on another device they didnt find a fault.

so it could be a design fault from the manufacturer's or a software fault.

it has been escalated.

I came across this thread by chance and its interesting to read that the problem could be caused by the port being 3-5mm off. I contacted Linx back in May of this year, this was their reply:

"Hi *****,

Thanks for the email.

There is a current investigation into the USB port on the 10v and 12v Linx tablets. So far we have concluded that the problem is USBs with higher read-write speeds such as true USB 3.0 devices.

I will contact you regarding a fix as soon as I hear anything about a development on this investiagtion."

Do you by any chance have a update regarding the issue @Boo?
Thanks.

Hi. I'm now on my 4th Linx 12. They've all had problems. The first used to work with my USB 3 hard drive then one day just starting disconnecting and reconnecting. I assumed it was a power issue and something had gone wrong. Anyway got it swapped and that had the same problem and so did the next and the next. Hope you hear back from Linx soon with good news. I also have problems with the wifi constantly disconnecting (all other wifi devices in the house are fine). I really want to like the machine but it just has too many issues to live with.

im having the same issue on 12x64. this started to happen after creators update. i think this may be related to drivers, since i can boot another os from a usb stick just fine.
