SD Card

The game-changer that is the Linx Vision is coming soon, talk about the beast here!

SD Card

Hi,

I think I'm going to purchase the Linx Vision, mainly for emulation but with a bit of steam streaming too. One thing which is concerning me is the limited HDD - I have seen on various specs that the SD Card is limited to 32GB - is this true? On the other post about steam games the person mentions they have a 64GB card in...

Also what space is left on the c drive after windows 10 is installed?

Cheers,
Frasbo

Hello Frasbo,

Yeah - I got a 64gb card in my linx vision. It works fine. I got this one:

although I got it for £12 during the black friday sales.

I did try a 128gb card and it recognised it but it seems to discconect frequently and would only be recognised again if I removed it and popped it back in again.

From what I remember, out of the box, there was about 20gb free (but don't quote me on that).

I installed a 128GB PNY High Performance Class 10 MicroSD.

PSA: DO NOT USE THIS CARD. It recognises it but disconnects every 10 mins and behaves strangely when reading/writing. I tried to run Steam and games on it but it won't work. Keeps crashing and I got BSOD.

Going to return the microSD card. Please anyone who has been able to reliably get a 64 or 128GB microSD card to work (and I mean running Steam from the microSD) please confirm make and model here for our benefit.

Edit: Full refund from Currys PC World - no problem.

Thanks for the advice folks. I got my linx yesterday and had no problems with my sandisk 128gb card. Unfortunately the controller keeps disconnecting every 5 seconds when in xbox mode making it unusable... so just waiting on device resetting before taking it back to pc world...

That's great, but can you be a little more specific?
a) Did you install Steam on your microSD Card and download and play a large game (>10GB)?
b) What are the exact specs of your microSD i.e. UHS-3? Read/Write speeds and model number?

I don't want to have issues again.

Thanks

Hi Handlander,

Sorry its actually a samsung card which I got from Amazon...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P ... ge_o03_s00

I have not installed any games on it but have about 60Gb of emulation files on it and its been running pretty good... no issues at all.

Can anyone definitively say what 128GB cards work then? PNY didn't work, SanDisk doesn't work - supposedly Samsung works but I want to see Steam and games running off the card before I buy one...

I've ordered a samsung 128gb from the amazon link mentioned in this thread, I will give a go once I get it but that wont be till Sunday and report back with success or failure. Just to be clear my testing will include Steam and Emulators :)
