Windows updates: create some disk space

by bobjbarker » February 25th, 2018, 4:34 pm

Hi
Windows reports it can not perform updates and I'll need to 'create some disk space and that 8GB is required.C:\ reports 3GB free.
I've had a good tidy up and moved documents, photos to SD card (59GB free on that). I uninstalled as much as I can (even Office).
Running Windows 10.
Any ideas how to get Windows Updates going?
Thanks.

Hi

I posed this very same question just a short time ago, ie maybe two or three months. With various different threads, I found my solution, which was basically to re-install the up to date version of Windows 10

If you click on my user name, ie Squirrel2015 and then click on 'search User's posts' (right hand side) you will be able to read the various threads I've posted in. Some of them may not be relevant but, with some time/reading, you'll be able to see what my solution was, ie re-install etc.

Hope this helps

Thanks for response.
CCleaner seems to have done the trick. Clearing enough disk space - more than Windows Cleanup did.

It's goods to hear you've found a solution. Well done

This will be an ongoing issue, as far as I can see, with such small drives. I believe Windows 10 can also use USB stick for temporary drive space while doing the update, which may be useful to know, too

Enjoy your device again, now :)
