Windows 10 upgrade - cannot boot linx 7

Postby Alecgj10 » August 7th, 2015, 2:47 pm

Hi

I wondered whether anyone can help me. I have just tried to upgrade my Linx 7 running Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. All seemed to going OK. I was just downloading the software overnight and had scheduled the upgrade for 11:00am this morning. I never reached this point as the tablet, on boot up, displays first:

Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We re just collecting some error info and then we'll restart it for you

System try's to reboot then displays:

RECOVERY
Your PC couldn't start properly

A required device isn't connected or connected or cannot be accessed

Error code: 0xc0000225

You'll need to use the recovery tools or you installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device) contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer

Press the windows key for UEFI firmware settings

Needless to say all my efforts have failed to get past this point.

During the Windows 10 installation the C: drive did not have enough space. With my confirmation it has placed a a file on my removable mini disc (d: drive). The file is named: $WINDOWS.-TMP , its size is 4.54 GB 967 files & 190 folders - I assume created by upgrade procedure.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert but having downloaded W10 and then started the 'install' procedure I got a message saying "do not turn off, install will restart on several occasions", or words to that effect. However after 20 minutes, (64% progress circular screen gauge) the screen turned into a black & white mass of moving pixels then after another 10 minutes pixels changed to coloured darting-about lines.

After 1 hour I thought install program had 'crashed' so I pushed the on-off button once and hey! the W10 start screen appeared. Whether the pixelation was a boot loop, I've no idea!. W10 worked perfectly since then.

so I received this reply:
Please see the following link for four different possible solutions on diverting away from the automatic repair loop:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... b4847d32fd

Alternatively, at this stage we also suggest attempting a factory reset (as attached) on the device to see if this eliminates the issue.

Please be aware that prior to attempting this, all data needs to be backed up to ensure it can be restored and to avoid loss.

Please can you advise if this resolves the issue?

this is the link to the factory reset doc :
file:///C:/Users/lwil6/AppData/Local/Packages/microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalState/Files/437/472/Linx%207-8-10%20-%20Hard%20Reset%20Guide%20150715%20[1391087].pdf

Fro what I can see nothing can be tried without a usb keyboard and unfortunately I don't have one.

if any of this works please let me know.

cheers

I am still in the same position (as per my original problem) I have with the aid of a key managed to get into setup via F7 and able to boot to Shell> prompt. I can also F8 and F10 functions keys. Any help from here??
