Linx 1010 Android X86 Marshmallow Dual Boot Working

Postby Abesy » March 29th, 2016, 10:02 pm

Hi All,

Managed to get the latest release of Android X86 Marshmallow dual booting from the HDD on a linx 1010.

Make sure you have a recovery in case something goes wrong.
Download the latest MarshMallow Android-X86 ISO from You need to be registered to view this link, please log-in or register
Load the ISO on to a USB drive using Rufus.
Load disk manager on the tablet.
Shrink the c drive by 8192Mb.
Create a new FAT32 drive in the new 8192Mb of space.
Reboot the tablet.
Either press esc during boot or hold the volume up button while powering the 1010 up.
Select boot manager and the EFI USB Device.
Select Android-x86 6.0-rc1 installation. (you will need the keyboard or a usb keyboard plugged in)
Select the correct partition you just created. (it should be the forth one in the list marked as vfat. But it will depend on your install and if you select the wrong one you may lose your Windows install)
Do not format the drive (you may also be asked later in the install.
Skip the Grub install
Install Grub2
skip the option to format again if necessary.
Select the data drive size. I selected 4096 as this will give you a good amount of space for apps.
When prompted select reboot.

Any time you want to boot to Android you will either need to press the esc key during boot of hold down the volume up button whilst powering on the device and select boot manager then Linpus Lite (no idea why it is called this)

Marshmallow seems to be very smooth with Wifi and the play store working well.

What doesn't work:
Power and Volume buttons
Cameras
Rotation (stuck in portrait)
No Sound

Most of these seem to be common issues with the device drivers for Baytrail devices missing from all Android-X86 builds.

Thanks,
Abes.

No not that I am aware of. I believe it may need a kernel patch. There are a few people on the google groups looking at the basytrail chipset though.

Guys, isn't it not possible to use the libs from the Linx 7 which has all of Android fully working. The libs are board drivers when I looked inside the system image so it is possible to fix sound and many other issues.

As far as I am aware the Linx 7 is the same chipset as all other Intel Atom tablet's.

I'm mainly asking as I also have an Linx 10, which I personally would like Android to run on as well

It uses different devices for certain stuff but chipset, graphics, and possibly WiFi should be the same
