  • Your BIOS will be updated to LINX8.RL221.04.01 (10/20/2017)
  • All custom driver settings will be reverted as they're no longer needed

I tried your new link, and nothing appeared to happen.

I updated the bios using email I got from Exertis, and then tried your link again, but it just sat there.

I went to device manager and tried to manually update key drivers, from the drivers directory as extracted from zip file, and it said they were all up to date.

In the end, it does not matter as everything is working fine.

I deleted the scheduled task entries as well.

Maybe it is not quite as tidy as it should be, but it all works fine.

Cheers.

By "nothing appeared to happen" do you mean that you couldn't get the download to start or that the program didn't seem to do anything?

I just downloaded the program and was able to use it. The driver installation stage can sometimes take 5-10 minutes, depending on your power state and if one of the drivers is currently busy.

I was probably being too impatient - I will try again.

I just tried applying your bundle on my Linx83G to fix screen rotation issues and it seems to have done something very strange to the touchscreen, both in windows and in the bios.

In fact after some trial and error I figured out it has reversed the touch input - so clicks at the bottom hit the top and vice versa, same for left and right. Makes the onscreen keyboard a fun experience...a bit stuck as I don't have a USB keyboard to hand.

I'm also not 100% sure the BIOS applied, it says LINX83G.R221.03.06, unless the bios version simply isn't for the 3G variant?

@Almook
My driver pack is designed specifically for the original Linx 8.

I can tell you that you're currently still using the original BIOS for your model as the new BIOS version for the Linx 8 is LINX8.RL221.04.01.

Contact Exertis and ask them if they've got a BIOS update for the Linx 8 3G.

Code: Select all
linxsupport@exertis.co.uk

As for the touch screen, that'll most likely be caused by the TouchSetting.gt file. Maybe you need the same files as the Linx 810?

If you've got an OTG cable and a USB mouse you could easily try using the TouchSetting files found in this post.

I bet if you were to go to system info it'll say that you've got a Linx 810 now. To fix that open up regedit and go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation. Change the model to LINX83G.

If I knew what touch settings your device used and how to ID your tablet I could easily make my driver pack work correctly on the 3G variant too.

I guess I was a bit too hasty :-)

Got touch working again, let me know what you need and I can give you the info.

My screen rotation was still miss-behaving (reversed) - although it was working now (before it was static). This page helped with that:

https://samuelpinches.com.au/blab/windows-10-screen-rotation-problem-kionix-registry-fix/

I added the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ROOT\SENSOR\0000\Device Parameters\kxfusion\Orientation

With a REG_BINARY consisting of:

00,00,01,00,00,00,02

In fact aside from the rotation and now I've fixed the touch screen I find the default drivers now in Windows 10 16299.98+ work fine for everything, although if there is an updated BIOS I might update it - so I have emailed them as suggested for a 3G variant.

That's great :)

How did you go about fixing touch? Did you just reset, reformat or install a different driver with a different TouchSetting.gt file?

It would help if I knew what driver settings the Linx 8 3G can use. For example, with the original Linx 8 touch is handled by Goodix Touch HID (version 1.3.1.1102). It requires just 1 TouchSetting.gt file where as the Linx 810 seems to come with 4 files.

Rotation is handled by Kionix Sensor Fusion Device (1.0.29.4) and Kionix 3-axis accelerometer SPB (1.2.8.5). With these drivers the registry key changes to 00,00,01,00,00,00,02.

If you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\BIOS what does it have set for SystemProductName? I'll need the exact string so that I can correctly identify the tablet.

SystemProductName is Linx83G

WRT the touch panel I have since run a driver update in computer manager and it now has the same version you reference, but to fix it I had an old driver pack with v1.2.1.1 with a single TouchSetting.gt file with the following contents:

Code: Select all
[Setting]
;UpdateCFG=1
SendCFG=1      ;Send CFG to touch IC when loading driver
SleepDisable=0

;SensorID=0   ;According to the different SensorID send different configuration
GtpTool=0   ;GuitarTestPlateform tool support
X2X=0
Y2Y=0
X2Y=0
Log=0

[Feature]
Pen=0      ;stylus/pen support
