Has anyone had a Linx 7 open?

General chit-chat on the Linx 7

Has anyone had a Linx 7 open?

Postby Iregore » May 20th, 2015, 7:21 am

Has anyone opened a Linx 7? Either on purpose or accidentally breaking it? I am interested to see the insides, how the case is clipped on, the PCB, battery, the screen connectors, etc. I would appreciate if anyone has had one open if they can take some pictures :)

If it is easy to open I may risk it, thanks. Can you tell me roughly where the clips are along the edges and if I should use a tiny screwdriver to pry it or you have an idea for a better method not to snap any clips?

I'd use a spudger rather than a screwdriver to pry the case apart - you're less likely to damage and/or scratch the case that way.
They can be picked up on ebay or Amazon for a couple of quid.

I use a small peice of plastic that looks like a guitar pick. but these small plastic tools will work perfectly for you.

The clips are along the side of the case and are very small. should be able to see one or two in the photo.

I am doing something wonderful.... :)

Not really, I wanted to see how easy it would be to separate the screen, potentially using in one project with the core system in another, and if there was a way to hardwire a charger onto it or direct power supply completely replacing the battery (this latter seems perfectly possible). Weighing up some options.

The clips are a little bit annoying, if looking at the back with all the text upright, I started in the lower left corner on the left side, that was easy. Then worked up to the rear camera. It got a bit stuck after the volume control. So I went the other way, worked round the corners at the bottom and up the right, then just the top to come and it was stuck. I had to use brute force to pop the right corner and then I was able to free the left corner by the rear camera and pop the back off. I snapped NO clips in the process, using one of the plastic pry tools for most of it, but be very careful. Also turned it on partway through by accident so paused to turn it off again.

Nice to see the battery model, unfortunately a google search for that model only finds 2 links to one site which is obviously a trade site as they have a minimum order of 2000 items.

It's the same hardware as the Cube iWork 7 apart from the ram / storage difference.
This is how I now have full android working. See Android forum.
