Linx1010 Network Card locks up occasionally

I have an odd intermittent problem when my tablet wakes up from sleep.
Not only does the WiFi not reconnect, it can't find any networks, and most buttons on the launcher become unresponsive. Rebooting takes ages (it goes into "Restarting..." mode and never does. I have to do a power-off before I can restart again.
Looking in the device manager when this happens and before rebooting, the General tab says "There is no driver installed for this device", even though the Driver tab shows the driver correctly. When it's working, the General tab says "The device is working properly".

Any ideas? I know I could prevent it disconnecting on sleep, but the battery life is too short as it is.

mmm never experiences this, btw as you say how does the computer locks? Does it eventually get to have the connected icon? Have you tried disabling the adapter, plugging the cable and then activating it?

Since a Windows update it hasn't happened again, so maybe there was a fix.
