Have you tried redownloading the file? Your first one could have been corrupt.

nememo wrote:Yeah, I do it all the time as I have an abundance of 8GB MicroSD cards and not that many USB drives themselves. I always use the SD cards in a USB reader as that way they appear to the Host OS as a USB drive and not an SD card.

Rufus, as you would expect, treats it exactly like a USB drive.

Tried it today and used Rufus and it worked fine with a Macrium Rescue Iso. Rufus 2.3/2.3 is a bit of a pain ie you select GPT partition mode, and then the iso, and the mode reverts back to the default mode ie you have to select partition type after choosing the iso. I think this is why I could not get it to work before.

Like you I have a couple of 8/16GB SDs spare. I shall set one up with Macrium+Latest image. In fact, it is easy to backup image file to a microsd (with Macrium Rescue on it), and simply boot from that - saves faffing around with copying to another usb stick.

Cheers.

Hi, first post and all, found this guide but am having problems with it, basically I got my linx 7 upgraded to win19 but decided it was a tad small so was going to roll back to win 8.1 return it to get a linx 8, thats where the trouble began and basically it now comes up saying windows installation cannot be completed and encountered an error or similar and just reboots saying the same each time :(

I can boot into bios using the otg cable, and have used rufus to create my usb flash drive, plug in via the otg cable hold vol up and power but just get the linx logo and the spinning circle then same error again, the usb is detected as its flashing away to start with, any ideas?

If someone can get me a Linx 1010 (or even just a recovery drive) I'll gladly have a go.

Just to confirm, should the Linx8 image work with the Linx7? And this ISO image is Win8.x not Win10?

I'm trying to get a Linx7 back to Win8.x, and the method here (using the Linx8 ISO) fails, after agreeing to "just delete my files" in the reset process, it goes to actually do the reset, but says "failed due to an error", which is really helpful as usual with Windows error messages! Is there a has for the ISO image so I know it was not corrupted on download?

Thanks! :)

I've never had the Linx 7 in person, so I can't guarantee it. My answer is that it MAY work, however some parts may require the Linx 7 drivers to be installed separately (so things like the touchscreen might not work, the rotation, the windows button - until the drivers are installed).
