Then I booted and 8.1 did not boot. But the reflect recovery boot did boot. But I had no recovery back up made. So I selected the option fix booting.

Then I booted again and it just says missing boot files and the reflect boot option is not there. Also I noticed the USB power cannot even power my keyboard which it could do so in the past.

So I am not getting this USB recovery working, maybe because of a lack of USB power which may be needed by the USB recovery drive.

I am sure that I made it correctly. The only other thing I can think of is the you have 2 partitions on your USB drive. So do you need 2 partitions on the 8 giga drive?

Follow the instructions as per the OP.

You shouldn't be making partitions or anything like that. Rufus will take care of everything as long as you set it up as the OP shows. Macrium is not required as per the OP - neither is a keyboard as the touchscreen is functional during Windows Recovery with this image.

With 8.1, the recovery partition is also the system partition. Once you get up and running again, remember not to delete it or you'll get the same issue.

Thanks nememo, you're a star. Had upgraded my Linx 7 to Windows 10 and lost all touch capability. With the help of OTG cable, USB hub, mouse and keyboard, I was able to implement your fix.

Things for others to watch for though:

- the power and volume procedure was a bit tricky. I persevered by alternating the buttons and it finally worked
- stage 6 (after reset) took me well over an hour not the 15 mins in your guidance (so, again, others please be patient - as long as you can see the revolving symbol it should come in the end - so, ensure you start with a fully charged battery)

Thanks once again

It will still work on a tablet without an OS installed. Are you sure you don't have a corrupt download?

I'll download it myself and see if I can load it using DISM tool. You need to use the latest version however - the original Windows 8 one won't work as that predated the new tablet/small disk wimboot function.

After erasing partitions my linx 7 1GB/32GB wont boot anymore in windows.
It will boot in UEFI Shell, but i cant figure out what to type to boot a windows 10 bootable usb stick from uefi shell.

So i downloaded the linx 7 image from page 1 to recover to windows 8 bing - but i get stuck (used rufus portable with the setting shown in the description).

- I use a usb hub with keyboard and bootbale linx 7 recovery image usb stick
- I enter uefi by presing delete while the linx logo is displayed and selected the usb stick to boot and restart
- After restarting (insted of entering shell) the linx logo is shown for about 10 minutes, then
I see a Blue Windows like screen with the title Recovery (and an Error Message)
it says:
"Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired
A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed

Error code: 0xc0000185

You'll need ti use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press the Windows key for UEFI Firmware Settings"

If i restart with the usb stick as first boot - the cycle repeats and i end up with the same error after 10 minutes.

The images worked for some people here - what am i doing wrong? - thanks
(PS: i cant enter the bootloader by pressing the power + Vol up button, i can only choose the boot order by entering in UEFI)
