This is not quite a guide but hopefully gives a couple of useful hints on how to use LINX 8 more effectively in desktop mode.
1) Install touchmouserpointer (search web) . Turns on a trackpad emulator (like on a laptop), and gives a mouse pointer. Gives you much more precise control over desktop, instead of trying to touch very small icons/checkboxes etc.
You can easily flip-flop from w8 touch mode trackpad mode.
2) enable standard keyboard (numbers along top row) . You have to go to PC settings, keyboard settings etc. to do this.
3) install teamviewer or splashtop (my personal preference). Then you can take control of tablet via a laptop or PC and do configuration changes more easily.
If you're gonna create a guide... stick it in here!

I find that modifying the font sizes on the desktop customization also works wonders if you bump them up to 16. You can then also hit the touch targets more easily, though there's less screen real estate.
