[GUIDE] Reflash the Linx Tablet Firmware (BIOS)

If you're gonna create a guide... stick it in here!

Currently attempting to use this to restore my Linx 8

Tablet disassembled. Turns out the BIOS chip is hiding under a metal shield (also hiding the memory chips and CPU and keeping some thermal paste in place) - that was simple to gently prise upwards.

The chip appears to be labelled 25LQ64CVIG which I think is a Gigadevices part.

Can anyone reassure me about the chip here - I'm assuming pin 1 is bottom left in the image, marked by the white dot?

... looks like the process has been successful. Pin 1 was indeed the bottom left one in the picture. I couldn't locate the MSDM in the existing BIOS extracted, and the chip was not fully identified / supported by the flashrom tool, but everything went well. Now I'm left with the final issue of the screen inversion in Windows 10, but that's a driver issue not a power / BIOS / bricking.

Thanks Bodger... wherever you went!

Hi all.... I have been reading about your success with reflashing the bios... would this method work if the tablet is stuck in ufi shell?? running mode 1.1.2 (??)

Its wanting an input from the keyboard but it isnt recognising the external one..??

Orginialy it went coloured screen and shut down and would be stuck in a bootloop.. but my friend had had a play and now im left with this shell mode??

Cheers

Ill check out the other thread.... tab.. Its a Linx 7 by the way.

I plan to tack some pins onto the BIOS chip then the RasPi .. I have a few lying about!!!

Where can the files be aquired from for flashing?

First off, thanks Bob!

That's got my Linx 8, back up and running. Couldn't see any information concerning the msdm table on the 8, earlier in the thread. The windows key appears to be located at offset 4460544 (0x441000).

Cheers,
