Linux uses its own eMMC routines for device enumeration and access for registered types. Relatively little of the firmware supplied ACPI tables are used with the running kernel. Most firmware SSDT's & DSDT's are in fact as buggy as heck. Windows "works around this" by using bespoke driver versions for certain hardware (one of the reasons why the w10 guys keep "losing" hardware configurations on "mandated" driver updates).

Linux (and android) currently has some problems with some baytrail hardware. The kernel cannot identify hardware correctly if it cannot probe for it.
Intel have added to the problems here by having a very "loose" specification for baytrail GPIO use.
Differing implementations of the same hardware coupled with the same buggy firmwares cause these specific problems.

Windows differs somewhat in that it places a greater level of reliance on the (often incorrect) data supplied from the firmware. It would appear that this tablet was supplying an incorrect eMMC size to the OS. Windows "believed it" and the windows hardware tools "accepted it" without further checks.

Assuming that the eMMC fitted to this tablet is "known" to Linux (the very vast majority of types have **FULL** kernel support) then yes, the "missing" space would show up with any of the GPT aware tools (gparted, gpt fdisk etc.)

Ok ok, so you know linux. As I said before, Im not fused on it, only use it for odd bit of coding or to manually hack Android roms.
So Im not going to argue, as I have a feeling this will go on and on, :).
