Hi - just trying to set my new linx8 up.

I have a micro usb > rj45 adapter, similar to the OP, but if i click internet explorer, i just get 'you aren't connected'. Naturally, pressing 'fix connection problems' does absolutely nothing.

I've just been through the opening few set up screens and i don't have wifi. Can anyone tell me how to get online through my router/wired LAN, please?

Thanks.

Did the driver install for your usb-ethernet thingy?
If it's not plug and play you'll need a connection to find drivers - or install them manually.
That's the only thing I can think of - I've used a the kensington mentioned in this thread and an adapter from a wii, both were plug and play - but there's no guarantee yours will be.

Yeah -thanks for that. I'm sure you're right, device manager shows i need a driver, but i can't seem to find one online using my PC. Don't suppose any one has a link?

Without knowing exactly what the device / chipset is that's going to be difficult.
No way you can get access to wifi for a few minutes?
Plug a dongle in your pc and use internet connection sharing? Tethering from a phone? Trip to MacDonalds (ie open wifi)?

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll see if i can sort something out. Presumably you are suggesting to 'search the internet automatically for drivers' from the device manager properties?

Yep. If it doesn't search automatically when you plug it in while it's connected to wifi.
