USB devices not detected in Windows 10

by sharpharp » November 23rd, 2016, 11:18 pm

Hi,

My Linx 1010L updated to Windows 10 Home, but ran out of space saying it needs another 3.84GB. I have the 16GB tablet, so hardly any space to start with.

I managed to get the disk cleanup to make some space, but still not enough. Windows give the option of using an external USB, so I pulled in one of several USB Sticks I have into the Tablet USB ports, but nothing shows up in Explorer.

I have tried several USB sticks, they get power as the LEDs on the sticks light up, but nothing appears in windows explorer.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Can you be a bit more clear. You say its updated to windows 10, then say it hasnt because you ran out of space.
So your currently running 8.1?

On USB, what does it say in device manager, does it show there?
Or check Disk Managment, does it show there?

Also, are we talking about a Linx 8 or 1010?

Sorry about the delay in replying.

Its on Windows 10 Home, but when it's downloading features pack (by itself as windows updates)
Windows can't install any fixes, it says it needs 3.61GB space on the C:\

It give me the option of choosing an external drive, but despite trying 20 different USB memory sticks, none are being detected when I plug them in.
There is no sound when I plug in a USB stick, no drives in Explorer either.

Any ideas, are the USBs dead? If so, I have a week of warranty left and will take it back.
