Linx 8 3G

General chit-chat on the Linx 8

Linx 8 3G

by MartinJ » August 12th, 2015, 9:37 pm

Just a quick post to say hello.

I have just bought a 3G from Amazon UK and in the process of getting used to it and getting it set up.

I put an Orange 3G SIM in it and it worked without any fuss once I found where you connect.

Overall the tablet feels fairly quick. I understand it had a quicker process that the non 3G model.

Cheers,
Martin

Think you're the first on here to post using a Linx 8, it'd be interesting to see your GeekBench score vs a non 3G model!

It turns out the 3G version has the same 1.33Ghz processor speed as the Wi-Fi version despite what the Amazon UK website says.

Enjoying the tablet now I am starting to get it set up the way I want and getting used to Windows. (I've been an ioS user since the first iphone and iPad so there's a learning curve for me)

My only real problem so far is that Netflix won't install from the app store.

What made you change from ios? That's what I did too, through I want with the 10.

Have you managed to get Netflix installed? Is there an error code?

I gave my iPad to my daughter in January and have been without a tablet since. I miss it for bed / sofa / train surfing. I just wanted a very cheap tablet to use on the train (hence 3G) and in bed in the morning at the weekend. The Linx seems incredibly good value!

I was also curious to have a go with windows on a tablet. In some ways it's ahead of ios. Notably the ability to do split screen multitasking and the curated MSN news apps both of which Apple are catching up with.

I haven't got Netflix installed. I get error code 0x80070057

I can't install Skype either. I get as far as language selection and then can't see a button of any sort to move onto the next step of the install.

Have a wee look here, a few suggestions to fix that error -

1:. Important: make a windows recovery usb stick asap. It will save your life if you do something silly.

2. Just access netflix from website and put shortcut on desktop.

3. Dowload and install skype directly from web page.

How do we go about making a USB recovery stick? Think ill do that too, my 10 had a funky moment this morning so a recovery back up is something I think I should do.
